It seems that everyone wants to have their own Battle Royale title these days. After the massive successes of an
ARMA mode that turned out to be one of the most played games of the last decade,
Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, and Epic's record-breaking
Fortnite, Ubisoft is the next developer that wants to join the genre strongly inspired by
The Hunger Games and, well,
Battle Royale.
According to GameReactor, Ubisoft commissioned Massive, the home of
Tom Clancy's The Division and
World in Conflict, to start developing a
PUBG-like game this January. The Swedish studio reported back saying that they could prepare something fun in a short amount of time. That's understandable, considering that
The Division's Dark Zones are basically small-scale areas of fighting to death.
Massive Entertainment is currently busy with just announced
Tom Clancy's The Division 2 which is being developed by more than 1000 people and an
Avatar game which will likely hit the stores around the premiere of James Cameron's
Avatar 2 which is scheduled to release in December 2019.
