Earlier this week, we caught up with Katie Cassidy to discuss her role in the action-packed spy thriller, Agent Game. We'll be sharing the full interview with you soon (for now, you can watch it in the player below), but what you may not know is that the Arrow alum is also a huge video game fan.
Big and small screen adaptations of hit titles have started taking off in recent years, with the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog and Halo making a huge impact. During our conversation, we asked Cassidy if she'd be interested in taking on a video game acting role, and her response was an enthusiastic one.
"Yes! Thank you! Call of Duty. Hello? I am a huge fan and they know it," Cassidy immediately responded when we wondered if she might be interested in exploring the genre. "I love motion capture. I also just did Hidden Agenda which is a video game where I played a cop. Call of Duty is a game I play and I love it. Mass Effect. Halo. Radiation Island. I don’t know, I just love video games."
"I used to play Duke Nukem and even Lemmings, but that’s not a First Person Shooter," the actress continued, sharing some of her favourite franchises. "I don’t know what it is about First Person Shooters, but I love them. I loved Mortal Kombat too. Sub-Zero’s Fatality…my favourite go to! Why am I not in these movies? Let people know. Let’s put it out there in the universe!"
What's interesting about these comments is the fact Cassidy is open to joining a video game franchise both on consoles or live-action. The former actually provides actors with a chance to perform in a way that's just as meaningful as what they'd do in front of the camera, particularly with the rise of motion capture (look no further than the likes of Uncharted and Spider-Man for proof of that).
There's no word on whether a Call of Duty movie or TV show is in the works, but the series has attracted its fair share of Hollywood actors over the years. Needless to say, that gives Cassidy a great chance of appearing in a future release but, for now, you can see her kicking ass in Agent Game.
Agent Game arrives in Theaters, Digital, and On Demand April 8, 2022.
