The next chapter in the iconic Call of Duty franchise has been revealed. Unveiled at today’s Xbox Games Showcase, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 marks the first-ever consecutive sequel in the Black Ops timeline and sets the stage for a psychological thriller unlike any the series has seen before. A Cinematic Teaser Trailer premiered alongside the announcement, setting the tone for the suspenseful, mind-bending journey to come. Check it out down below:
Tyler Bahl, Head of Activision Publishing Marketing, emphasized that this is only the beginning:
"Delivering consecutive Black Ops games lets us build on community excitement and dive into new settings, like our bold leap to 2035."
Bahl also teased that there will be plenty more reveals and surprises on the way throughout the summer, encouraging players to keep an eye out for cryptic clues and Easter eggs an ongoing tradition within the Black Ops franchise.
Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, Black Ops 7 takes place in the year 2035, more than 40 years after the events of Black Ops 6. It draws heavily on the fallout from both Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6, plunging the world into chaos, high-tech warfare, and intense psychological manipulation. Players once again step into the boots of David Mason, as he leads his team against a cunning enemy who weaponizes fear itself.
"The Black Ops universe is amazing,” said Matt Cox, General Manager of Call of Duty. "Our vision was to create a back-to-back series experience that embraced the uniqueness of the Black Ops sub-franchise.”
