Destiny 2 Update 1.1.4 is all about the "sandbox and Crucible." With that in mind, Bungie detailed in this week's blog post some changes coming to the game's PvP mode.
"The PvP team has been on fire these past few weeks, filling Update 1.1.4 with as much awesomeness as we can," said PvP Design Lead Derek Carroll.
"Our beloved Test team is right there with us in the labs as we put the new content through its paces."
First off, Iron Banner team sizes will be increased to 6v6, but there are a number of other tweaks to the gameplay that channel
"that old-school Crucible in the style of the Iron Lords." Some highlights include:
-
Match time limit is 12 minutes
-
Score limit is 125 points
-
Respawn time is 7 seconds
-
All control zones start off neutral
-
Control zones take slightly longer to capture by default
-
Additional Guardians (max of 3) in a zone increases capture speed
-
Guardians participating in a capture get more Super energy
Additionally, Rumble will also make its return
"with no excuses, no complications, and absolutely no points for 'assists'". You'll get a single point when you get a kill, and that's it. Also, the player count will be increased to eight. Mayhem will remain as is.
With update 1.1.4, these modes will share a central location on the Crucible Director page, and will rotate weekly. The Weekly Featured playlist will serve as a home for gametypes that don't fit into the existing Quickplay or Competitive playlists.
Lastly, Bungie also addressed the mode formerly known as "Doubles," which you may have played during the recent Crimson Days event. Although Bungie loved the way it played during Crimson Days, they want to take it further and provide more "polish and flexibility." What that means exactly remains to be seen, but once they figure it out, it will be released into the Weekly Featured rotating playlist. No release date for that yet, but Bungie will add it to the Road Map when they iron out the details.
That's all for now, but Update 1.1.4 promises a bunch of other features and changes that Bungie says
"will make everyone's lives better (unless they're habitual quitters), and we'll be sure to talk more about them as launch day approaches."
Destiny 2 Update 1.1.4 is due out on March 27, so expect previews like this to continue coming until then.
