At PAX West, Epic Games gave us our first look at the highly anticipated High Stakes event coming to Fortnite this week. As previously revealed, the in-game event will bring the new Wilcard Outfit, special challenges, and the new Getaway Limited Time Mode. During the PAX Fortnite stream, we got our first look at the new LTM, which also brings a special item - the Grappler. You can check out both in action in the video below.

In Getaway LTM, four safes (supply drops) have been scattered around the island, each carrying a large jewel. The goal is for you and your squad to locate a safe, secure the jewel inside, and successfully escape by making your way to the van with it. The first four teams to successfully pull off a getaway win.
To assist you in this heist, Epic has added a new item - the Grappler. The name pretty much describes its function; you can shoot it towards structures and your character will quickly fly towards it. A video of the Grappler in action is below.

To go along with this whole heist theme of the High Stakes event, players will be able to purchase the Wild Card outfit which comes with the Cuff Case back bling and Safe Cracker glider - all of which can be seen below.

Fortnite's High Stakes event will go live this week following patch v5.40, presumably on Tuesday. September 4.
