It Appears There Are No Plans To Port WOLFENSTEIN: THE NEW ORDER To The Nintendo Switch Just Yet

Wolfenstein: The New Order will not be making its way into the Nintendo Switch as developer—Panic Button—mentions that it isn't in their plans...yet.

Bethesda surprised us all when we first saw The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim showing up in the Nintendo Switch reveal back in October of 2016—becoming one of the first officially announced third party titles on Nintendo's new console. Ever since, Bethesda has given Nintendo Switch owners The Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim, Doom, Fallout Shelter, and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus that is coming out on the 29th of June.

While Bethesda was the one in charge of porting The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to the Nintendo Switch, it's Panic Button the one that ported Doom—alongside id Software—and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. For anyone unfamiliar with Panic Button, they are a developer company that helps co-develop other titles, as well as working on console ports. Panic Button also helped port the highly popular, as well as highly addicting, Rocket League to the Nintendo Switch.

With Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus releasing only a few days from now, it's only natural that fans of the franchise begin asking themselves if Bethesda or Panic Button are working on a port of the previous game—Wolfenstein: The New Order—but it seems that isn't the case just yet.

During this year's E3, Gamespot had the chance to speak with Adam Creighton—studio head at Panic Button—who mentioned that they are very excited about having been able to port Wolfenstein II to the Nintendo Switch, as well as mentioning that there are no plans to make a port of Wolfenstein: The New Order.

"That's a Bethesda discussion, honestly. It's [up to] them and Nintendo as to what would work for the platform. I think it'll be interesting to see how The New Colossus is received right after it launches at the end of the month and what Bethesda does from there", replied Creighton when asked about The New Order port on the Nintendo Switch.

Not everything is bad news, though, as Creighton also said that they [Panic Button] are "totally up for anything" regarding the ports, by also mentioning that it's still up to Bethesda to call the shots. Creighton is then asked about the DLC for The Nintendo Switch version of Wolfenstein II and he said that they are releasing the base game, so no DLC included at launch. "Right now we're releasing the base game. Bethesda is going to look at what the reaction is in the market, what people want".

While this news may be a downer for some Nintendo fans, they will likely forget about their frustrations when Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus releases on the 29th of June, that way they can patiently wait for a port of the prequel while they comfortably shoot Nazis at home, or on the go, on the Nintendo Switch.

Wage the Second American Revolution whenever and wherever when Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, the Video Game Awards' "Best Action Game of 2017" winner, launches for Nintendo Switch. As BJ Blazkowicz, experience an unforgettable action-packed story brought to life by extraordinary characters. Reunite with your friends and fellow freedom fighters as you take on the evil Frau Engel and her Nazi army.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus will be available for the Nintendo Switch on the 29th of June.
