With DC FanDome taking place next month, Warner Bros. and DC Comics have shared new key art for Gotham Knights, which we'll presumably see more of during the event. The highly anticipated action RPG focuses on the Batman Family as they attempt to take the mantle of the late Batman and protect Gotham City and its citizens from rising crime.
The new key art features Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin patroling the seedy streets of Gotham City, presumably on the lookout for criminal behavior. Interestingly, there's also a reflection of Batman reflected in the puddle below them. Is this a hint that Batman may not be dead after all or is it more symbolism that they are the new protectors of Gotham City?
The synopsis for Gotham Knights teases:
Batman is dead. A new expansive, criminal underworld has swept the streets of Gotham City. It is now up to the Batman Family; Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin; to protect Gotham, bring hope to its citizens, discipline to its cops, and fear to its criminals. From solving mysteries that connect the darkest chapters in the city’s history to defeating notorious villains in epic confrontations, you must evolve into the new Dark Knight and save the streets from descent into chaos.
Gotham Knights was actually first shown off during DC FanDome last year with a rather in-depth and detailed gameplay video. The open-world, action RPG takes players to the "most dynamic and interactive Gotham City yet" where they patrol the five boroughs and drop in on criminal activity. The game can be played solo or co-op with one other player in drop-in/drop-out support.
Gotham Knights was supposed to release at some point this year but was recently delayed to 2022. Hopefully, we see more of the game next month at DC FanDome and perhaps get an updated release date. Most recently, we learned a key spoiler — who the game's lead villain may be — so perhaps we'll get more details on exactly who you'll be trying to stop as well.
