Hawaii & Several Other States Plan To Take Action Against Loot Boxes

First Belgium, then the European Union and now Hawaii... Loot Boxes have finally been recognised as immoral exploitation of gamers by many governing bodies...

Even though EA have removed the immoral microtransactions, they still struck the final nail in the coffin making Loot Boxes a real issue for more than just gamers.

Belgium are not alone in the movement as Hawaii Rep. Chris Lee stated how EA's actions are 'predatory behaviour' and sees Star Wars Battlefront 2 as nothing more than a “Star Wars-themed online casino, designed to lure kids into spending money”.

“Its a trap” Chris Lee un-ironically goes onto say.

He feels that it is 'something that we must address particularly to kids who are underage, who are not psychologically and emotionally mature enough to be able to gamble', he wants to protect gamers and children 'from being trapped into these cycles that have compelled many folks to spend thousands of dollars in gaming fees online.”

Hawaii are 'looking into legislation this coming year that could prohibit the sale of these games to folks who are underage' and are not alone in the campaign as they have been talking with 'have been talking with several other states as well; legislators there who are looking into the same thing' to finally prohibit these kind of mechanisms in games.

Chris Lee stresses that it must be addressed now before these issues become 'the new norm for every game'.
