Infinity Ward Are "Definitely Not" Working On A Loot Box System For CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE

Based on a discovery made within the game's multiplayer beta, it was thought that Activision is planning to add a loot box system to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare after its launch — in the same way that they infinitely monetised Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 after its initial release.

Naturally, this was frowned upon and many anticipated fans seemed to cancel their pre-orders. If you're unaware, loot boxes are thought of as an unfriendly and predatory system. Either your forking out a bunch of real money on mostly unimpressive and useless trinkets or you're paying for content which will give you an edge over those who don't. All in all, it's a no-go nowadays.

However, it turns out that the game might not include a loot box system after all. Similarly, it was thought that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare would require a massive 175GB of storage space but it turns out that isn't the case — more on that here.

In a recent post to the game's official subreddit, to save face, Art Director Joel Emslie revealed that Infinity Ward are definitely not working on any kind of supply drop system for the upcoming first-person shooter and that anyone who says otherwise is simply spreading misinformation. We can only hope that this turns out to be the case.

"There continues to be misinformed and incorrect info being pushed about Modern Warfare," Emslie began. "What I can say right now is that we are definitely NOT working on any kind of supply drop or loot box system. Also, functional stuff is unlocked through GAMEPLAY. Stay tuned, we're planning to release info this week."
