The second season of
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's post-launch content only just kicked off —
find out more on that here — but it seems there's a lot more in the works for fans of the long-running first-person shooter franchise to look forward to.
Recently, an image surfaced online which appeared to be pretty legitimate. It featured a cityscape ravaged by war and many aloft helicopters as well as a downed one. Differently garbed soldiers are spread amongst the battlefield, one notable inclusion being the character of Ghost — another soldier can be seen parachuting in from the skies.
Most notably, there was a large title that read:
Call of Duty: Warzone. If it wasn't clear enough what this is all implying, some reputable insiders quickly emerged with claims that it's a standalone battle royale game that's coming very soon. For instance, Daniel Ahmad took to Twitter stating that
Call of Duty: Warzone will be playable soon enough —
you can check out his tweet here.
What's more; it will apparently be free-to-play. We'd feature the aforementioned image but Activision has stricken it down from countless other sites and social media — the same would occur if we included it here. Just know that it's still floating about amongst the ether and you'll be able to find it if you look hard enough. We'll be sure to keep you updated as this intriguing story develops.
