A Minecraft Movie has been one of this year's biggest surprises. Despite poor reviews, the film has gone on to become one of the most successful video game adaptations of all time with over $818 million earned at the global box office.

The film's immense popularity has also sparked, at times, disruptive audience behavior. Reports and first-hand videos of chaotic screenings involving screaming, seat jumping, popcorn throwing, and, in some cases, vandalism, forced theaters to enact restrictions and issue pre-show disclaimers. Even the film's star Jack Black had to step in to urge audiences to maintain proper theater etiquette.

Recognizing the passion surrounding the movie, Warner Bros. is giving fans a chance to let loose while experiencing A Minecraft Movie in theaters. Beginning Friday, May 2nd, select theaters will be showing A Minecraft Movie: Block Party Edition!, a studio- and theater-approved version of the film that allows audiences to sing, dance, and meme along with the movie.

"A Minecraft Movie: Block Party Edition! is made for those who yearn for the mines, so get ready to (re)enter the Overworld this weekend!" the studio announced.

"You know the moments. You know the lines. You love the songs! Now it’s time to get loose, laugh out loud and belt out those lyrics like a true diamond-tier fan."

Tickets for A Minecraft Movie: Block Party Edition! are now on sale ahead of the movie's release this week, but be sure to check your local listings for showtimes. Ahead of its debut, a new poster for this special showing has been released.

Directed by Jared Hess, A Minecraft Movie is the first-ever big screen, live-action adaptation of the popular video game Minecraft. The film stars Jack Black as the game's titular character, Steve, along with Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Hansen, and Jennifer Coolidge.

Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn’t just help you craft, it’s essential to one’s survival! Four misfits—Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks)—find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they’ll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative…the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.

Have you seen A Minecraft Movie in theaters? Do you also plan to see these Block Party Edition!?
