Mojang finally announced a release date for Minecraft Dungeons, but unfortunatley, it won't be this month. Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, Mojang, in an effort to keep all involved with the game healthy and save, has pushed back the release of Minecraft Dungeons to May 26. The multiplayer dungeon crawler was originally slated to launch in April.

In a statement issued today, the company explained:

As you all know, we initially planned to release Minecraft Dungeons by the end of April. However, due to the current state of the world, this was no longer possible, as we wanted to guarantee the health and safety of our teams, and empower them to deliver the best possible experience to you, our players. We hope you’ll find it was worth the wait.

Minecraft Dungeons will release for all platforms simultaneously: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. It will also launch as an Xbox Game Pass title, meaning anyone with a membership to the subscription streaming service can play it without having to buy it out right.

For other platforms and non-Game Pass Xbox owners, Minecraft Dungeons will be available in two editions. The standard edition will cost just $19.99, while the Hero Edition will cost $29.99. The Hero Edition comes with the Hero Pass, which includes a Hero Cape two player skins, and a chicken pet. Hero Edition owners also get the first two DLC packs

Inspired by classic dungeon crawlers, Minecraft Dungeons is an action role-playing game set int he Minecraft universe. As an adventurer exploring the Overworld, players complete missions that take them through procedurally generated dungeons. There are no traditional classes in the game, with players free to build their character to fit their playstyle. Minecraft Dungeons is built for one to four players either locally or online; however, it will not have matchmaking. Mojang is currently working to bring cross-platform multiplayer across Xbox One, Windows 10, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
