Evolution Studios was officially closed by Sony, but Codemasters was fortunate enough to hire some of the developers who worked on
DriveClub, and
Onrush will be their first project under the Codemasters roof. Their project is heavily-influenced by the
MotorStorm series and it's not really surprising, considering that Evolution was responsible for the development of the series on PlayStation 3.
Onrush gives the players an access to eight vehicle classes (Blade, Outlaw, Vortex, Charger, Interceptor, Dynamo, Titan and Enforcer) and each class has its own style, handling and abilities, Codemasters said. “
These unique attributes will be key to RUSHing your team to victory, especially in online competition; where tactics are key,” the developer explained.
“Some abilities are more tailored for the offensive minded – those of you who have a bit of rage built up and want to inflict devastating takedowns on your rivals. For the more Florence Nightingale among you, support abilities are also hugely important in clinching victory.”
Codemasters' newest proposition is great news for the fans of the forgotten Evolution's series as the races look amazingly crazy and "arcade" in the best meaning of the word. The open beta starts this May, so get ready for it with the newest action-packed trailer:
Race, smash and takedown your opponents in ONRUSH, a refreshing break from the norm epic action/arcade racer. Voted for by millions of on-line fans you step in as one of the 12 most exciting and popular Onrush competitors in the world.
Onrush is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on June 5, 2018.
