The United Kingdom has been, traditionally, a hard market for Nintendo: remember that in the days of Super Nintendo, it was one of the few places where its rival Mega Drive, of Sega, prevailed.
A study conducted in that market shows that Nintendo's brand recognition among the British public has improved.
The brand relevance studio, Prophet, created a survey that analyzes 240 brands of 27 categories and how they are perceived in the United Kingdom. The survey shows that in the gaming section, PlayStation continues to dominate and is in the third overall position.
Nintendo is in eleventh position, which represents an improvement in two positions compared to the previous year.
However, the Xbox brand suffers a strong setback and is ranked 17, 6 steps below that in 2017.
The United Kingdom is the largest market by volume of revenues generated for the videogame sector in Europe, ahead of Germany and France.
