Dead Space 3 News, Trailers & More

Hard to believe, but Visceral Games has revealed that Dead Space 3 will be available exclusively on Kinect for the Xbox 360. The all-new Kinect functionality will help immerses players into the Dead Space universe by allowing players to use simple voice commands to help co-op partners give each other health or ammo, find objectives, revive one another and more when the game launches February 5, 2013.

“The voice commands in Dead Space 3 give players a unique way to take down the terror, whether they choose to face the Necromorphs alone in single-player, or alongside a friend with drop-in / drop-out co-op,” said Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer on Dead Space 3 and VP, General Manager of Visceral Games. “Dead Space 3 delivers the action-horror experience our fans have come to know and love. And with the ability to survive the adventure alone, with a friend, or with Kinect, we’re excited about extending the spine-tingling Dead Space experience to a whole new audience of players.”

Not only will players be able to help their buddies battle the necromorphs, but the co-op will feature fully integrated rop-in/drop-out, giving players the ability to go it alone or team up. Players that decide to battle together will experience additional story details, side missions and gameplay mechanics only found when playing as John Carver.

While the press release stated that "Dead Space 3 will be available exclusively for Kinect for Xbox 360," it later stated that "Dead Space 3 will be available on February 5, 2013 in North America and February 8, 2013 in Europe for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360 and the PC." So will it REALLY be an exclusive for Xbox? I highly doubt it... The previous two games were available on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, so it stands to reason that this may actually be hype for the new voice-command features (which will undoubtedly be exclusive to the Kinect for Xbox 360).

Visceral Games and EA also released a new trailer to the press. The new gameplay video was actually shown during Gamescon 2012 and featuers lots of new gameplay footage, necromorphs and some of the bloody fun games can look forward to when the game hits retailers in February.

About Dead Space 3

Dead Space 3 cuts to the heart of deep space terror with award-winning suspense, horror, action and audio. Slated for release in the dead of winter, players will embark on a thrilling ride through space that takes them to a hostile new planet, Tau Volantis. There, they must battle violent, subzero conditions and deadly, highly-evolved enemies including new Necromorphs, gigantic boss creatures and – for the first time in the series – a faction of Unitologist soldiers on a misguided mission.

Fortunately, they are not alone this time around. Players can choose to team-up with a friend anytime in Dead Space 3 with the fully integrated drop-in/drop-out co-op feature. Players that choose to take down the terror together will experience additional story details and gameplay mechanics only found when playing as the co-op character, Carver.
