A quick recap if you haven't had a chance to hear about
Project 7. It's a cinematic third-person action game published by 505 Games. Project uses Remedy's own engine, Northlight and will introduce the player to a new, never before seen universe. From the press release back in May we learned that P7 "
will keep the players engaged and playing for a long time to come".
A job listing at Remedy seems to shed light on what
Project 7 could be, as the descriptions strongly hint at an online multiplayer title. The sentence
"have you already designed the next Battle Royale? Are you always among the first to find Xûr" suggests that
P7 would be similar to
PUBG and
Destiny, which is quite shocking, considering that Remedy has never made an open-world multiplayer product.
"Define and drive the creation of unique content and in-game events that delight players and encourage them to explore the game world", "keep players engaged and the community buzzing", "spearhead the creation of compelling, innovative online game modes". it's pretty clear that Remedy decided to join the battle-royale bandwagon, but will it pay off? Only time will tell. The studio is also working on a story-driven continuation of an Asian free-to-play hit, CrossFire.
