Anthem's open demo (or beta, whatever you want to call it) is now live. From today through Sunday, February 3, 2019, you can jump into a javelin and explore this intriguing new world from BioWare.

So what can you expect to see in the open demo?

For starters, you'll get a glimpse of Fort Tarsis, which serves as the main hub between missions where you can visit the Forge and customize your javelin, meet all sorts of interesting characters, and visit locations like the Enclave, the Bar, or the Arcanist Lab. It should be noted that Fort Tarsis is not a social hub that you can share with friends, although BioWare will be adding that space for launch.

You'll be able to go beyond the walls of Fort Tarsis and embark on expeditions, completing missions and discovering secrets of the world. In addition to the three-part expedition to track down a shaper relic with mysterious powers, simply exploring the world will result in emergent challenges. This includes attacking one of the Strongholds, a high-level dungeon that requires a full squad of Freelancers. And, of course, you'll have to be wary of dangerous wildlife, like wyverns, flying creatures, and more.

When you embark on your journey, you'll begin as a level 10 pilot with a fully equipped javelin of your choice. You'll be able to unlock a second javelin of your choice (Ranger, Colossus, Storm, or Interceptor) at level 12. The open demo is capped at level 15; however, you'll be able to personalize your javelins and change your loadouts using the Forge.

For those of you who participated in last week's VIP demo, your progression - Pilot level, unlocked Javelins, looted gear and weapons - will carry over to the open demo. And as a reminder, anyone who participated in the "rocky" VIP demo will receive a free vinyl at launch.

On a world left unfinished by the gods, humanity struggles to survive in a savage environment. Equipped with incredible Javelin exosuits, a faction known as the Freelancers seeks to tip the balance in mankind’s favor.

Anthem's open beta will run through Sunday, February 3. The actual game launches on February 22, 2019, for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. If you're an Origin Access or EA Access member, you can get early access on February 15.
