After releasing several acclaimed games, including Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect, BioWare quickly became a beloved publisher with an extremely loyal fanbase.
However, following the release of a few disappointing titles, their status among the gaming community slowly declined. This proved especially true after the release of the much-maligned Mass Effect: Andromeda in 2017, which also served to significantly lessen the excitement for Anthem.
Still, up until the game’s release, many fans continued to hope that Anthem would turn the tide for BioWare. Unfortunately for them, Anthem was met with numerous mixed to negative reviews from both fans and critics alike and currently hovers around sixty on Metacritic.
In response to these missteps, many fans grew concerned that EA—which has earned a reputation for shutting down underperforming studios—would give BioWare the axe much like they did to Visceral Games.
As a result, Michael Gamble, one of the lead producers of Anthem, took to Twitter to quell one fan’s concern, noting that BioWare is “getting great support.”
While it’s a bit unclear whether this support he mentioned is a reference to EA, the fans, or both, Gamble seems rather confident that things will ultimately work out for the Anthem publisher.
