Anthem is one of next year's most anticipated games and fans will be able to get a glimpse of BioWare's online multiplayer sci-fi shooter ahead of its release.
Electronic Arts announced that a VIP Demo of
Anthem will be available starting January 25, 2019, about a month before the game's official launch. The VIP Demo will be open for those who have already pre-ordered
Anthem, as well as EA Access and Origin Access subscribers.
For those not yet ready to commit to stepping into a Javelin and haven't pre-ordered the game, EA will be offering an Open Demo a week later on February 1, 2019.
Both Demos will be available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. EA has not said how long each Demo will run for. The specific content that will be unlocked for the Demos were also not revealed, but EA said:
"players will be the first Freelancers to face the dangers of the world of Anthem, and will receive an in-game item celebrating their trailblazing spirit."
“It’s time for the fans to get their hands on Anthem and experience it for themselves,” said
Anthem lead producer Mike Gamble. “
We truly hope they enjoy this taste of flying and fighting in this brand-new world our team has been crafting for many years.”
The announcement comes on the heels of a
newly released story trailer that was shown during The Game Awards. The trailer emphasized more of the story elements in
Anthem while giving us a glimpse at one of the game's baddies. A Closed Alpha for
Anthem was held this weekend.
Through the power of the javelins, skilled pilots called lancers were able to fight back against this perilous world. But a new enemy has emerged, seeking to harness the limitless power of the Anthem. And if they succeed, nothing will stand in their way.
Anthem is set to officially launch on February 22, 2019, for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
