Mark Darrah, Executive Producer of Anthem is fielding a ton of questions on Twitter, following the latest cinematic trailer for the highly-anticipated Destiny 2 competitor. One particularly interesting nugget of info was the confirmation that Anthem will require an online connection to play. Some gamers are taking this as proof that Anthem will be nothing like the traditional Bioware RPGs of yesteryear.
In subsequent Tweets, Darrah explained, "We want the experience of playing co-op to be as seamless as possible. Even if you don’t normally play that way." He also added, "The game is designed around having a co-op experience in combat etc... and then having a more personal story in your hub." Other details confirmed included Story Missions allowing up to 4 players to join up and complete. The Javelins or mech-suits will have unique weaponry and skillsets tailored around each suit's size. They will have both personalization elements (the ability to make it look the way you want) and customization elements (the ability to make the suit play the way you want). To what degree, remains to be revealed.
The game is confirmed for launch in February 2019. At launch, there will be no PVP element.
