Despite rumors about the troubled production of
Cyberpunk 2077 and exploiting their workers, CD Projekt Red seems to be finally ready to talk about their upcoming project that was teased back in 2013. During the Pareto Securities Gaming Seminar, CD Projekt CEO Adam Kiciński had a chance to publicly give a quick update on the current status of the ambitious game's development.
"Cyberpunk [2077] is our new Witcher 3, but even more ambitious. Our goal is to establish a new blockbuster franchise from the beginning. We work [in a] new universe, futuristic universe. We believe it's very appealing to players, not only RPG players—but this is [a] true RPG, like Witcher, like Witcher 3, for mature audiences. It's handcrafted, detailed, of course open-world, with open-ended gameplay," Kiciński explained Red's approach to a new series of games set in a unique environment.
"Great game, more ambitious than Witcher 3, and we believe that we can aim [at] more ambitious business goals as well—of course, still having gamer-centric focus and quality focus as a main priority," the CEO concluded. If you ask me, Wild Hunt was one of the most ambitious games of the last decade and we will hopefully see what Cyberpunk 2077 is all about at this year's E3. *Beep*.
