Even though there is still currently no official release date for CD Projekt Red's forthcoming sci-fi RPG, Cyberpunk 2077 remains one of the most highly anticipated games in recent memory, thanks in large part to successes like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
However, while the game has managed to attract the attention of both casual and hardcore gamers, a few fans of the original tabletop games that inspired CD Projekt Red's work had a somewhat tepid response to the title's development, largely because it was thought to be set in a separate timeline than the popular tabletop game.
Fortunately, if you found yourself wishing Cyberpunk 2077 took place in the same universe as Cyberpunk 2020 then you are in luck, because creator Mike Pondsmith recently took to Reddit to clear up any confusion over the game's timeline.
In his post, Pondsmith explained that the CD Projekt Red title will indeed take place in the same universe as Cyberpunk 2013, Cyberpunk 2020 and Cyberpunk RED, and revealed that he and the developers have been "hashing the details out over the past six months."
Although this piece of information likely doesn't matter to those unfamiliar with the property outside of the video game, it will undoubtedly make some fans of the IP even more excited for the title's release.
