Appearing as the keynote speaker at a gaming convention in Dubrovnik, Croatia. FromSoftware's Hidetaka Miyazaki has revealed that he wants to make a slight departure from his usual style of punishing, action-adventure games. Specifically, citing Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption 2, Miyazaki said he hopes to make a game one day where the focus is more on the story instead of gameplay.
Also appearing as a guest speaker at the event was Shadow of the Colossus creator Fumito Ueda, who echoed Miyazaki's sentiments. Ueda went a step further, stating that he needs to get better at communicating with his team, who often times don't even understand the story of the game they're working on.
They both agreed that their style of game making starts with a high-level concept that only sees the story and dialogue fully developed at the end of the process.
