Rumors of a new
Diablo game have been swirling for a while and now some new job postings over the Blizzard's careers website suggest a new game is indeed in the works. Blizzard hasn't officially announced anything, but the developer has multiple job postings for an
"unannounced project." The positions, however, are labeled for
Diablo.
The four current open positions are:
The overview of each position has a part that reads:
The minions of Hell are growing stronger...
We're working on a new, unannounced Diablo project. Are you a skilled Dungeon Artist? Come work with us, and together we will build something exceptional.
Whether this new project is actually Diablo IV, a new expansion for Diablo III or something else entirely remains to be seen; however, one of the postings does call for people who are "passionate about working on the dark gothic world of Diablo, making great games, killing millions of monsters and getting loot!"
Diablo III initially released for PC in 2012, 12 years after its predecessor, Diablo II. It overcame a very rocky launch and received two expansions: Reaper of Souls (2014) and Rise of the Necromancer (2017). Previously a PC-only franchise, Blizzard brought Diablo III to Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2013, and Xbox One and PS4 in 2014. Speculation of a Switch port stemmed from a mysterious tweet from Blizzard earlier this year, but the developer shut down rumors saying they had nothing to announce at the time.
What do you think this new Diablo project will be?
