Although Square Enix has decided to cancel three of the four previously announced DLC character episodes (
Episode Aranea, Episode Lunafreya, and
Episode Noctis) for
Final Fantasy XV, Episode Ardyn has managed to survive Square’s budget cuts and is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Considering that
Episode Ardyn is the last story DLC for
Final Fantasy XV, it's really unfortunate that this critically acclaimed title has been completely abandoned just two years after its global debut. The fact that the j-RPG has already sold 7.7 million copies worldwide suggests that it's a hit among gamers that would be supported for years to come, but it seems that
Final Fantasy XV is another Square Enix sales disappointment, joining the likes of
Tomb Raider, Hitman, Just Cause 3, and last year's
Just Cause 4.
Episode Ardyn takes place in the fictional land of Insomnia, approximately 30 years prior to the events of the base game, giving you a unique chance to take a closer look at the vast
Final Fantasy universe from a slightly different perspective. In this brand-new DLC, you also get an opportunity to learn more about the origin of the titular villain as "
the episode is a direct depiction of the story that couldn’t be told within the main game," according to Director Takefumi Terada. Be sure to check it out below:
