Considering that
Episode Ardyn, the first (and unfortunately last) story DLC for
Final Fantasy XV has already launched, the development team at Luminous Production can now focus on their next title.
According to
Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ardyn Director Takefumi Terada, Luminous’ yet-to-be-announced project is not set in the vast
Final Fantasy universe as it's a completely original IP.
“
The team that created FFXV wants to create a new AAA title that is not an existing IP, it is why Luminous Productions was born,” Terada explained in a recent interview with Famitsu.
“I can’t talk about the details, but like FFXV, I will create a game based on a new world drawn with high quality, high end. Please be assured that the next project is already in motion.”
Rumor has is that this mysterious video game will launch for the next-gen consoles, currently known as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett, but remember that until anything is officially announced by Square Enix themselves, consider that information nothing more than a gossip. As a reminder, Square is still developing the long-awaited remake of
Final Fantasy VII, but it doesn't have a release date just yet.
n Midgar, a city controlled by the mega-conglomerate Shinra Inc., the No. 1 Mako Reactor has been blown up by a rebel group, AVALANCHE. AVALANCHE was secretly formed to wage a rebellion against Shinra Inc., an organisation which is absorbing Mako energy, destroying the natural resources of the planet. Cloud, a former member of Shinra's elite combat force, SOLDIER, was involved with the bombing of the Mako Reactor. Can Cloud and AVALANCHE protect the planet from the huge, formidable enemy, Shinra Inc.?
Final Fantasy VII: Remake is currently in development for PlayStation 4 (?) and Square Enix hasn't announced anything officially regarding its release date yet.
