Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is two days from Switch 2. Nintendo posted a seven-minute overview that walks story, classes, combat, and the hours between fights in Dagsion.

The setup of the story for the game is the Dagdan Empire after the gods' peak. Demon god Balor is back. You drop in as a soul Sothis calls down. Two roads. Face Balor alone, or take Fortuna's time travel, jump five years, and rewrite four heroes who vanished after the Heroic Games.

The four are the big names that you will hear the most. Cai is a boy from Ribeira trying to win the Games and free his father. Dietrich is the swordsman hunting a stronger fight. Theodora is a queen chasing her homeland's old dream. Leda is the musician pointed at revenge. At Pale Raven's Perch you swap between them so the four stories can move in parallel. Who you ride changes how the Games, and the later war, read.

The Games themselves are a tournament in the capital. Win and you earn a wish from the Divine Sovereign. Prepare in Dagsion. Train. Shop the arcade. Volunteer on Temple Row for battle blessings. Sit certification exams to promote. Take quests. Recruit. Eat and sleep at inns. Leave the walls for skirmishes and dungeons. Dungeon fights run closer to a traditional turn-based RPG than a grid map.

Weapons in the game are the usual kit: swords, lances, axes, bows, gauntlets, magic. Combat Arts chew durability. Blaze Arts chew health. Classes split Beginner, Specialty, and Advanced. The overview list includes shido, bardingers, bishops, gladiators, diviners, ornius riders, armored knights, wing riders, charioteers, cataphracts, guardians, and elephant riders. Movement and weapon access change by class the way they always have.

Sothis from Fire Emblem: Three Houses is in the tape. Nintendo has not called Fortune's Weave a prequel or a sequel. A prologue manga by Kazuro Kyo, who did Engage's manga, started September 4 in Saikyo Jump and on Shonen Jump+. The paid extra material for fans is the Dagdan Collection: steel case, art cards, a Dagda map, and an artbook.

Eurogamer's longer preview already called the game large compared to Three Houses and Engage. The overview is the public version of that pitch: four campaigns, a city loop, and a demon god at the far end. Thursday is September 17. Pre-orders are on the eShop. If you only care about one hero, the Perch swap still exists. If you want the monastery-hours fantasy again, Dagsion is that block with a tournament on top.

Are you starting as Cai on Thursday, or jumping to Theodora's queen route first? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
