Ahead of the highly anticipated released of
Kingdom Hearts 3 next week, Square Enix has released a gameplay overview. The new trailer provides an incredibly brief overview of the Dark Seeker Saga, which will supposedly conclude with Kingdom Hearts 3.
Unless Square Enix releases some sort of detailed recap of the story up to this point, chances are a lot of this will probably won't make sense to you unless you've played past games in the
Kingdom Hearts series. The gist of it is that you're fighting to defeat Master Xehanort, Organization XIII, and a Darkness that threatens all.
Without getting too caught up in the story, the trailer provides a look at some of the new gameplay features, including combat. New to the game, Keyblades are able to transform into different forms with different unique powers and abilities. Sora is also able to equip multiple Keyblades and swap between them in the middle of combat. Also covered in the trailer is Sora's ability to cast magical spells, link with the spirits of legendary Disney characters, and call upon the power of the parks with Attractions. And finally, we get a look at the revamped Gummi Ship and classic Kingdom minigames inspired by 1980's-era LCD games and iconic Disney animated shorts.
The Disney and Pixar worlds are in danger of being swallowed in darkness. Only by uniting together will we stand a chance! Join the Keyblade wielder Sora as he travels across the Disney/Pixar universe and meets familiar faces across familiar places in order to fight against the Heartless and darkness brought forth by Master Xehanort.
Kingdom hearts 3 releases for PlayStation 4 and, for the first time Xbox One, on January 29, 2019.
