Nomura was very busy at this year's
Monaco Anime Game International Conferences (MAGIC) event . In addition to showing off the Final Fantasy VII remake, he also revealed a new look at the long-awaited
Kingdom Hearts III. It seems Olympus will be more than just a Battle Arena/Colosseum stage this time around as a new look at some redesigned Heartless was unveiled.
Via Gematsu, we have a few quotes from KH III creative director Tetsuya Nomura. "
This is the first time we show this screenshot of Kingdom Hearts III. It’s happening in Thebes and they are fighting a new model of the Heartless. The Keyblade turns into a lot of things. Here it is a shield, but it can also be transformed into a chariot. This is called Power Form."
Fans are understandably getting a little nervous as it's been 4 years since the game was first announced and there have been virtually no substantial updates. Is this another Final Fantasy XV all over again, which started out as Final Fantasy XIII in 2006 and wasn't released until 10 years later? Speculation is that if a substantial reveal doesn't happen at this years E3 conference in June then KH 3 is likely having some major development issues.
