The Witcher debuted on Netflix back in December 2019. The fantasy television series is based on the Andrzej Sapkowski book series of the same name which also served as the inspiration for the CD Projekt Red trilogy of acclaimed video games.

Lauren Hissrich serves as showrunner; Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, and Freya Allan star as Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer, and Ciri respectively. Netflix recently shared a still from the upcoming second season of The Witcher which serves as our first look at Allan as the latter character.

Princess Cirilla of Cintra, better known as Ciri, can be seen training with a sword. Though she certainly had a rough time during the first season, it seems Ciri is now more hardened than ever. The image also came with the following caption: "She gave tearful goodbyes on a most violent night. Now this child of surprise is preparing to fight."

Season 2 will consist of eight episodes and release at some point in 2021. Check out the new still below (via @WitcherNetflix):

Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster-hunter for hire, journeys toward his destiny in a turbulent world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.

The Witcher is now streaming on Netflix.
