According to Business Insider, Vice President Of International Originals Kelly Luegenbiehl revealed during Netflix's press event in Rome that The Witcher's first season will be a short one, with only eight episodes. Still, it will be longer than Catlevania's four-part season one, but it may be disappointing for fans, considering that series produced by Netflix are rarely shorter than the "standard" 13 episodes.

Yesterday, we reported that Netflix's The Witcher won't be released before 2020, and even this is an optimistic date as the works on the script for the highly anticipated series are still unfinished and require more time. The series is expected to start filming this Fall mostly in Poland, Eastern and Central Europe, and The Witcher crew is currently focusing on the pre-production and location scouting.

The series was officially announced last May and we still don't know a whole lot about the upcoming adaptation. Screenwriter and producer Lauren S. Hissrich has already finished working on the pilot episode and Netflix plans to adapt the first two books, Sword of Destiny and The Last Wish. Sean Daniel, Jason Brown and Platige Images' Jarek Sawko and Tomek Bagiński are producing the series.
