Sega Has Released A New Video That Goes Over The Story in SHENMUE I & II

With August just around the corner, we are getting close to the release of Sega's critically praised series Shenmue I & II, now remastered in HD. Both games will be bundled together and will retail for $29.99 USD when it becomes available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on the 21st of August.

The Shenmue series is one of Sega's greatest hits from the 90s thanks to its solid gameplay, enticing story, solid gameplay, great characters ,and some remarkable performances by the voice actors that give life to these characters. Which is why it's such a nice touch to have Corey Marshall, the voice of Ryo Hazuki, narrate the first video in the 'What is Shenmue?' mini series released by Sega.

In the first episode of 'What is Shenmue?', we are introduced to the games' main character Ryo, who witnessed the murder of his father and goes on a journey to find LanDi; his father's killer. At its core, the story in Shenmue is one of revenge, and players will take on the role of Ryu Hazuki as they travel the game's world looking for clues, dealing with gangsters, and meeting some allies along the way.

The year is 1986, the place Yokosuka, Japan. The normally tranquil day-to-day life of Ryo Hazuki is suddenly and irrecoverably shattered by uninvited visitors. A man wearing dark green Chinese clothes appears at the Hazuki family home with two black-suited thugs. This man uses a powerful style of martial arts, the likes of which Ryo has never before seen, to engage his father Iwao in a fierce battle. Ryo attempts to intervene and help his father, but the obvious disparity in power is too much. Ryo is beaten down and taken hostage as the man questions Iwao, “Where is the mirror.”
