Sonic the Hedgehog might be arriving in theatres for the first time in less than a month's time but what's going on on the video game side of things? Well, fans have been clamouring for a decent video game instalment for quite some time now. Recent speculation supposes that SEGA might have that covered.
The game developer recently announced a new initiative by the name of
Sonic 2020. This endeavour will see that SEGA announces some exciting, new
Sonic the Hedgehog news on the 20th of every month for the remainder of the year. It's uncertain exactly what will be announced but fans are keeping their fingers crossed that it will predominantly be updates on upcoming video game entries.
It seems that the announcements will all be catalogued on
this page of SEGA's official website. The first of the announcements is the initiative itself — so we'll just have to wait until February 20th to see what else SEGA has in mind. They recently shared some official graphics for Sonic 2020 over on Twitter and you can check those out below (via

Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog races into theatres on February 14th, 2020.
