STAR WARS JEDI: FALLEN ORDER: Here's How Force Powers Work In The Highly Anticipated STAR WARS Game

Arguably one of the most important parts of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order that Respawn need to get right is the Force. We haven't had a Star Wars game with effortless and brilliant Force mechanics since Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Thankfully, with gameplay of Respawn's upcoming title having finally been revealed, it looks like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is set to take the reins.

Cal Kestis is the protagonist of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. He's a Padawan who survived the Jedi purge that was Order 66. Cal, and therefore the player, has a plethora of Force abilites at his disposal. While the gameplay demo showed off the Force powers in action, a recent report by Game Informer has revealed exactly how they work and how the player is able to control them.

It's said that Cal will learn more and more Force abilities as the game's story progresses. On the lightsaber side of things, the player will be able to either use a heavy or light strike when swinging the iconic weapon and can even combine them with Force abilites.

One of the first powers to combine these tools is a Force-powered dash, something that can be initiated by a double-tap of the triangle button (on a PlayStation 4 controller). Other versatile Force powers will be assigned to the controller's shoulder buttons.

Force push, pull, and slow are three powers that were shown off during the EA Play demo. "Slow," is one of Cal's unique moves, it allows the Padawan to essentially freeze an enemy in place and exploit their weaknesses. This ability will also be able to freeze blaster bolts in mid-air. An example of combining powers here would be halting an projectile in mid-air, then Force pulling an enemy into it.

We know that the player will be slightly limited by a "Force meter," to prevent spammed usage of Force abilities. To refill this meter, you'll have to hit enemies with melee attacks. This naturally keeps gameplay varied.

Cal Kestis—one of the last surviving members of the Jedi Order after the purge of Order 66—is now a Padawan on the run. Experience this all-new single-player Star Wars story from Respawn Entertainment and EA Star Wars on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC this holiday season.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is set to release on November 15th, 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
