In the latest financial report, Ubisoft revealed that
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege has reached a massive 40 million players worldwide and that number will be even bigger after the inclusion of the upcoming Year 4 updates. Although Ubisoft still hasn't revealed what's coming next for
Siege players, a ResetEra leak suggests that the next Operators are Australian and the Kanal map will be redesigned.
Like in the previous free DLCs, Year 4 will be divided into four separate expansions and each of them will be themed around a nation's counterterrorism unit (CTU). According to ResetEra user Kormora and WindowsCentral, the Australian update is planned for early 2019, including two new operators, Defender Mozzie ("
she puts down a device that when the enemy drones go into it, she can take control of it and use them") and Attacker Gridlock ("
he puts down a red web tracker that when defenders runs into it they get damaged and it makes noise").
In addition to that, Ubisoft is also apparently planning to redesign the Hamburg-set Kanal map, likely similar to last year's Hereford Base facelift. Considering that the Morocco-themed
Operation Wind Bastion launched nearly a month ago, we should start hearing more from Ubisoft about these new Australian units in the near future, and you can take a look at Mozzie and Gridlock in this leaked image:
The Siege is a brand-new style of gameplay embracing the reality of counter-terrorist operatives across the world: intense and asymmetrical close-quarters combat between attackers and defenders. As a defender, you will have the means to transform your environment into strongholds to prevent the attackers from breaching. As an attacker, you will have many planning options to face this challenge and defuse these situations.
