The ongoing Six Invitational 2019 tournament is not only the first major
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege public event of the year, but also our first real chance to learn more about the popular game's Year 4 and its post-launch support. Just like all the previous free DLCs, Year 4 will be divided into four separate expansions and each of them will be themed around a nation's counterterrorism unit (CTU).
The next major step in
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege's evolution is titled
Operation Burnt Horizon, including two new Operators from Australia: Defender Mozzie and Attacker Gridlock. While we still know next no nothing about that duo, Ubisoft Montreal has finally showcased the game's 21st map:
Outback. Set in Australia’s Red Heart, this map is an homage to all the dusty service stations and motels that populate the forgotten highways of the continent and places filled with hardworking locals.
“
We divided the map into three distinct sections – the Garage, the Motel, and the Restaurant – and put a lot of effort into making sure each section is recognizable, even from far away,” Assistant Level Design Director Jacques Wong explained. “
There are specific colors for each section, and we used lighting and geometry to direct the player’s gaze to where they need to go,” Wong added.
Outback will be launching as part of
Operation Burnt Horizon, the first season of Ubisoft's Year 4 lineup. For more information, be sure to visit GameFragger in the coming days, as the studio will surely reveal more information on
Burnt Horizon during the Six Invitational 2019. Take a look at
Outback below:
The Siege is a brand-new style of gameplay embracing the reality of counter-terrorist operatives across the world: intense and asymmetrical close-quarters combat between attackers and defenders. As a defender, you will have the means to transform your environment into strongholds to prevent the attackers from breaching. As an attacker, you will have many planning options to face this challenge and defuse these situations.
