In the latest financial report, Ubisoft revealed that
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Siege has reached a massive 40 million players worldwide and that number will surely grow after the title's upcoming expansion into Asian territory, in partnership with Ubisoft shareholder and games behemoth Tencent, as the French company has announced that some changes are coming to the global version of the game.
China is known for its restrictive censorship laws, so it shouldn’t be surprising that Ubisoft will remove the gambling, sexual, and violent content in
Siege due to the imminent Asian release. It means that you should say goodbye to Operators that have skull masks and face paint, some of which players surely paid money for, slot machines, neon signs of dancing women, and even environmental blood.
According to Ubisoft, the
Rainbow 6 Siege experience will remain true to its roots, but the fact that following wounded Operators' blood trails used to be a core gameplay mechanic that allowed players track their opponents with ease will make the
Siege fanbase rightfully disappointed. What's even more baffling, Caveira, whose name literally means “skull” in Portuguese, won't be affected by the changes.
The Siege is a brand-new style of gameplay embracing the reality of counter-terrorist operatives across the world: intense and asymmetrical close-quarters combat between attackers and defenders. As a defender, you will have the means to transform your environment into strongholds to prevent the attackers from breaching. As an attacker, you will have many planning options to face this challenge and defuse these situations.
