Bandai Namco and DigixArt Studio have got something really special with their World War 1-inspired game 11-11: Memories Retold. While it is set during The Great War, it is not a first-person shooter like most games set in any war—either real or fictional.

11-11: Memories Retold is a game that focuses heavily on narrative, where the war is only used as the story's background to tell a bigger story. By featuring two soldiers from opposing sides of the war as the game's main protagonists, 11-11: Memories Retold also aims to offer players different points of view to this world-changing event.

In order to ground the game even more, the developers were assesed by a historian that helped them keep the game faithfully grounded in the period it's set. The team also wanted to have the characters, Harry and Kurt, communicate in a way that was realistic—keeping in mind that they come from different countries and speak completely different languages, creating a language barrier at first.

The latest vlog for 11-11: Memories Retold focuses on how the team managed to create a credible fiction that fleshes out these two different characters that go to the war for very different reasons and end up realising that they still have things in common.
