Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, the highly anticipated side-scrolling beat 'em up from Tribute Games and Dotemu, will arrive on Nintendo Switch and PC in 2022. The updated release window was confirmed during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live along with another exciting announcement: star reporter April O'Neil will be featured as a playable fighter in the game.
April O'Neil will sport her iconic yellow jumpsuit, inspired by her look in the 1987 animated television series, and wield her trusty microphone and camera to take out the Foot Clan. Check out the gameplay trailer below to see April in action, and also hear the original track from composer Tee Lopes (Sonic Mania, Streets of Rage 4: Mr. X Nightmare).
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge reunites Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael as they kick shell in a beautifully realized beat ’em up.
Revealed earlier this year, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge pays homage to old-school arcade classics and TMNT beat-em-ups, like the beloved Turtles In Time. The game features gorgeous pixel art inspired by the Turtles' iconic 1987 design, showdowns with infamous rivals like Bebop and Rocksteady, and signature locales like Dimension X.
"We know that TMNT means a lot to you, we hear you and we take into account your impatience, as well as your passion and your trust in us for this game. For these reasons, we prefer to take our time to deliver a game that suits you (and us)," developer Tribute Games wrote in a message to fans. "If adding more exciting content to this game means taking more time, then we'll take it to make sure the result is worthy of your expectations."
With so many failed attempts at 3D TMNT games, a return to the classic look and feel is much welcomed by fans. Look out for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge on Switch and PC in 2022.
