It looks like bringing hell to consoles is harder than one would've thought and the upcoming horror-survival-murder-demon game has faced problems with registration on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The developer has revealed that the censorship was required to ensure that the game will be released on both consoles, but the PC owners will have the option to completely remove it via a free patch.
"
That is why for many months we have been conducting interviews with age-rating companies in order not to cut out entire scenes from the game but at the same time modify it enough (e.g. just slightly changing the camera's frame) to get an M (Mature) rating instead of AO (Adult-Only) rating. AO rating means that the game could not be released on PS4 and Xbox One, and we would not keep the promise made on the Kickstarter," the official statement on the public-benefit website reads.
The studio promised that the full version of
Agony will be “
much heavier” than what we’ve seen of the game so far. The trailers suggest a pretty hardcore, bloody and awful experience but I'm sure fans of the
Saw and
Hostel series will love it. Just don't expect to meet Virgil (and I'm not talking about
Devil May Cry here). The game's Kickstarter update page features uncensored gifs so check them out

Agony is a first-person survival horror game currently in development. Players will begin their journey as tormented soul within the depths of hell without any memories about his past. The special ability to control people on their path, and even possess simple minded demons, gives the player the necessary measures to survive in the extreme conditions they are in. By exploring hostile environment and interacting with the other weary souls of the hellscape, the hero will soon understand that there is only one way to escape from Hell, and it will require a meeting of the mystical Red Goddess.
Agony was originally set to release March 30, 2018 on PS4, PC and Xbox One but has been delayed to an unspecified date.
