Asobo Studio, co-developers of
Fuel,
The Crew, and
ReCore return with their first original project in a long time,
A Plague Tale: Innocence. The upcoming adventure game mixes gameplay mechanics from
Dying Light and
The Wild Eight with the aesthetics of
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.
Innocence is one of those "indie triple-A" games made with a tight budget, sitting in the middle of small budget indie games and enormous AAA projects like new installments of the
Battlefield or
Assassin's Creed series.
You will play as siblings Amicia and young Hugo, as they struggle through the heart of the brutal and ruthless world of 14th century France. On their way out, they will have to face the uncontrollable rats swarm that's incarnating the Black Death and the Inquisition's soldiers. During their journey, they will have to learn to trust each other as discover their true purpose and expose a dark, terrible secret.
A Plague Tale: Innocence blends stealth and adventure gameplay, deeply embedded in dark medieval mystery. Make no mistake, despite its historical roots,
A Plague Tale isn’t meant to be a realistic medieval game, as it's actually filled with supernatural elements and magic. Apparently, the game's engine can display up to 5,000 rats at once, ebbing and flowing like a living tidal wave. Take a look:
A Plague Tale: Innocence tells a grim and emotional story, sending us on journey through medieval France, with gameplay blending adventure, action and stealth, supported by a compelling, moving story. Follow Amicia and her little brother Hugo, trying to survive a harsh, brutal world plagued by the Black Death. On the run from the Inquisition, and surrounded by unnatural swarms of rats that appeared with the Black Death, Amicia and Hugo embark on a rocky journey that will not leave them unscathed.
A Plague Tale: Innocence arrives on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in 2019.
