As with the PC list, here's a quick rundown of all the titles coming out this week on console:
July 31st:
Titan Quest, THQ Nordic, price: $39.99 USD (Nintendo Switch)
This is a re-release of a very popular Action-RPG released back in 2006 on PC. Titan Quest is set in Roman Mythology and while graphically may be outdated, the playstyle certainly holds up even today. The game has been re-released already for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One in recent years. Many from the development team behind the original ended up working together again, forming a new company, Crate Entertainment, and worked on a highly acclaimed RPG released back in 2016, Grim Dawn.
Chasm, Bit Kid, Inc., price: $19.99 USD (Playstation 4 and PS Vita)
Chasm, following its successful Kickstarter launch back in 2013, is finally seeing the fruits of their labors as the game is releasing to the Playstation 4, PS Vita, and PC on July 31st. The game is a pixel action-adventure title that puts players in control of a new recruit in the Guildean Kingdom, trying to prove himself as a knight. It plays like a fast paced side-scroller, this game is sure to be a great indie hit, especially with six massive maps and countless bosses to battle. This will surely cater to the nostalgic RPG gamer.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole - Bring the Crunch DLC, Ubisoft, price: $12 USD (free with Season Pass) [Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch]
The critically acclaimed sequel to South Park: The Stick of Truth, South Park: The Fractured But Whole has already received multiple DLCs since its release in 2017. The latest one, will feature a new character, Mint-Berry Crunch, who will team-up with the rest of the South Park gang and try to save summer camp. The DLC also unlocks the "Final Girl" superhero class that players can unlock and use on their own characters after finishing the DLC campaign.
1979 Revolution: Black Friday, iNK Stories, price: $11.99 USD (Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch [August 2nd], Xbox One [August 3rd])
"Based on true stories and historical events, 1979 Revolution: Black Friday is an interactive drama about choice and consequence, chaos and order. The year is 1978, the place is Tehran, Iran. You play a photojournalist who returns home to find his people protesting the ruling King, the Shah. Armed with your camera, you're soon pulled into a dangerous world of revolution and civil unrest."
This game is finally being ported over to the varying consoles after a successful two years on PC.
August 2nd:
Flat Heroes, Parallel Circles, price: $7.99 USD (Nintendo Switch)
This simplistic puzzle-platformer has been in the works for a couple years, and has reached its official release date. It seems from reviews on Steam, that players who've already had their hands on the game are overwhelmingly happy with it so far, and i'm sure it will carry over to a wider playbase after release.
Armored Warfare, My.com, price: free-to-play (Xbox One)
A free-to-play shooter already released on PC and PS4, Armored Warfare finally makes it to Xbox One. The game is similar to World of Tanks, where its a tactical shooter pitting two teams of players (tanks) against each other. This game also features destructible environment that can be used for advantages, and also includes micro-transactions to keep the game running, as it is free-to-play. This game does not feature cross-platform capabilities.
Salt & Sanctuary, Ska Studios, price: $17.99 USD (Nintendo Switch)
Originally released on Playstation 4, shortly followed by release dates for PC and PS Vita, this 2D action-RPG game brings its horrifying ambiance mixed with Dark Souls-style gameplay to the Nintendo Switch. With an average rating of "Very Positive" over more than 6,200 reviews on Steam and a great price point, this game will surely rope in a few avid RPG players on their latest console release.
