The Harry Potter brand hasn't been utilized well in the last couple of years, to say at the very least. Sure, the LEGO version of the J.K. Rowling-created universe was a fine, little experience, but the rest of the games based on the movies and books mostly failed to capture the magic of Hogwarts. Warner Bros. Interactive seems to see the problem and recently announced a drastic change of direction.
The first effect of this AAA approach, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, turned out to be a shameless gash-grab, but WB. doesn't give up and decided to greenlit a brand new RPG title set in the Harry Potter universe. According to the rumor, the game is being developed at Avalanche Software, the creators of Disney Infinity. Interestingly enough, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced it had acquired the studio from Disney on January 24, 2017.
Today, the very first video from the recent focus group tests has leaked online. According to the person who had a chance to see the working prototype of this Harry Potter RPG, players will chose between eight different classes to embark on an open-world journey set in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The game will also feature some personalization options and simple choices. The action of the game will take place in the 19th century, so forget about meeting Harry and his unusual friends.
