The
Uncharted movie has been in a development since 2008, when Avi Arad, the man behind the tremendous success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was pitched by Sony to do the same for the video-games medium. Sadly, the movie still faces production troubles, lost Mark Wahlberg who was supposed to play the lead role and gained Tom Holland who will play a much younger version of Drake.
Naughty Dog creative director Neil Druckmann had a chance to chat with IGN during a DICE Summit 2018 panel and explained why he thinks director Shawn Levy (Night at a Museum, Real Steel) is a perfect choice for the upcoming project. "We've had some conversations with Shawn Levy, and he's really passionate, gets it, and I think he understands where we're at," he said.
Druckmann also confirmed that the movie will focus on Nathan Drake's adventures we haven't seen on the small screen, "
[Levy] wanting to tell a different story than the main four adventures with potentially a young Nathan Drake that fills in the gaps, I think is a lot more interesting than trying to retell Uncharted 1, 2, 3, or 4," Druckmann concluded.
Shawn Levy's Uncharted doesn't have a release date yet.
