Pokemon is a role-playing game series of games that were initially released for the Nintendo Game Boy in 1996. In the game, players catch creatures called Pokemon and have them fight each other in order to evolve—to put simply—from a total of 150+1 Pokemon to catch. The original games were
Pokemon Red,
Pokemon Green(although Green was never localised outside of Japan) and
Pokemon Blue, which were pretty much the same game except for a few minor differences like the places and types of Pokemon players would encounter in their adventure, as well as their starter Pokemon.
The
Pokemon franchise became so popular that it spawned an anime show, and has seen quite a few number of games over the years. Then the second Generation of Pokemon came with
Pokemon Gold and
Pokemon Silver in 1999 and now, 20 years later, some new Pokemon have been discovered in an old demo of the games featured at the 1997 Nintendo Spaceworld.
IGN reports that the news comes from some fans at
The Cutting Room Floor who unpacked the ROM demo of the games. While the demo came out 2 years earlier, a lot of the ideas seen in it where cut from the final versions. The starter Pokemon where not Cyndaquil and Totodile but instead Flambear—and its Volbear and Dynobear evolutions—and Cruz with its evolutions Aqua and Aquarina.
The demo also revealed baby forms of already-existing Pokemon such as Vulpix, Tengela, Goldeen, Paras, Meowth, Grimer, Growlithe and Mr. Mime, as well as some evolved evolutions of Tangela(Tangrowth) and Likitung(Lickilicky).
