Nintendo has recently filed a patent for quite an interesting Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controller, which features some sort of hinge that makes the current design slightly more ergonomic; something that some Nintendo Switch users have actually complained about.
The information was first shared on a Reddit thread created by user
r/shy-shy-shy, and it comes from the
official patent database in Japan.
While Nintendo did offer a Pro Controller at launch, for those players who simply don't like the feel of the Joy-Con controllers, there are still some who would prefer a different Joy-Con design; making this new patent almost a godsend for the ones still waiting for a revised controller.
It is also worth reminding that companies file patents like these quite often, but only a few of these actually end up becoming a product — as most of the time these patents are filed in order to secure potential ideas companies may want to execute; ideas that they will easily dismiss if they don't work.
With all of that said, it is still interesting to know that Nintendo are considering revising the Nintendo Switch's Joy-Con controllers to make them more comfortable for users. If only they decided to make a Joy-Con controller that featured an actual D-pad instead.
