It's been a couple of weeks since Nintendo gave us our first look at the Nintendo Switch 2.  Nintendo shared some top-level details about the Switch successor with the reveal trailer confirming a number of rumors, including a slightly larger screen and Joy-Con controllers that magnetically connect to the console.

It mostly served as a brief introduction to the eagerly awaited Nintendo Switch 2 with Nintendo confirming that more specific details will be shared in April as part of the "Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2" presentation. This live stream will broadcast on Wednesday, April 2nd. However, new filings at the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) have revealed some additional details.

As reported by The Verge, the Switch 2 will include an RFID feature on the right Joy-Con, just like the original Switch. You'll also be able to charge the Switch 2 from either its bottom USB-C port or the new USB-C port located at the top of the console. While the initial announcement teased this second USB-C port at the top, this serves as confirmation that you'll be able to charge from either ports.

According to the filings, the Switch 2 will also support Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) networks with up to 80MHz of bandwidth. This is up from the original Switch console’s Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac).

There seems to be a bit of confusion regarding the Switch 2's charging speed. The filings indicate that the Switch 2 is rated for an AC adapter with a maximum of 15V, which is the same as the original Switch; however, there's also mention of an AC adapter that goes up to 20V. So it's unclear if the Switch 2 will have a faster charging speed or more power when docked. A previous leak claimed that the Switch 2 dock would require a more powerful AC adapter than its predecessor, which indicated more power when docked.

While these filings reveal some new details, a previously discovered patent also seemed to confirm mouse functionality for the Switch 2 Joy-Con. This was teased in the reveal trailer, but Nintendo has not officially explained it yet.

Despite everything we do know about the Nintendo Switch 2, there are still a ton of questions about the new console. Hopefully, all of our questions are answered during next month's Switch 2 Direct.

We know that the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch sometime this year, but we're all awaiting a specific release date and pricing information.
