"Everyone is Here!" was Nintendo's way to make their fans excited for the next installment in the
Super Smash Bros. series:
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. As if the game wasn't reason enough to get everyone excited, having every single character that has ever been in a
Smash Bros. game making a comeback is a more than welcome surprise that absolutely no one saw coming.
The Nintendo Direct streamed this E3 was only 42 minutes long, with a huge emphasis on
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate—which got a staggering 25 minute "trailer" showing off every character revealed at the time. Newcomers to the series are the Splatoon Inklings, and Ridley from the Metroid series. Counting Inkling and Ridley, the game already features a massive roster of 65 playable characters.
Believe it or not, fans of the series are still waiting for announcements about more playable characters in
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and they'll probably get their wish now that Nintendo has announced a new Direct—which will focus in its entirety on the upcoming installment in the series.
As per usual, the
Smash Bros. Direct will be presented by series' creator Masahiro Sakurai, who will reveal new information regarding the game. The Direct will be streamed on Wednesday the 8th of August at 7AM Pacific Time on Nintendo's YouTube Channel.
Nintendo's
Super Smash Bros. Direct for the Wii U and 3DS versions was a solid 40 minutes long so it is safe to assume we will get a similar Direct for Ultimate, although we've already got a lot of things out of the way with the E3 Direct, but at least that can help them focus on new characters. Maybe spoil us some more with other returning modes? Because we all want Break the Targets and Race to the Finish back, right? Right!? Let's just keep our fingers crossed...and while at it, it wouldn't hurt to collect the
7 Dragon Balls...we may finally get our long-time wish fulfilled this time.
Introducing the newest and most expansive Super Smash Bros. ever! Super Smash Bros. Ultimate arrives December 7, 2018.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on the 7th of December.
