Mario Tennis Aces was released back in June for the Nintendo Switch, bringing back one of Nintendo's most fun sports series—which almost came as a godsend after the abysmal reception that
Mario Tennis Ultra Smash had on the Nintendo Wii U.
Ever since the game was released, Nintendo has been very supportive of the game by releasing free updates that include adding new fan-favourite characters to the game's roster; with characters like the classic Koopa Troopas from the
Super Mario Bros. series, to Diddy Kong from Rare's iconic
Donkey Kong Country series.
The roster for
Mario Tennis Aces keeps getting bigger with every free update that Nintendo releases, and the latest trailer is introducing us to
Super Mario Galaxy's Luma,
Donkey Kong(1981) and
Super Mario Odyssey's Pauline, and
Super Mario Bros. 3's Boom Boom.
Luma, Pauline, and Boom Boom will begin releasing from January to March of 2019, each being released monthly. Nintendo has usually been adding these characters via Online Tournaments, but the trailer doesn't mention these tournaments at all, so maybe they'll just come out when intended without the need to have players participate in order to get them early.
Online Tournaments or not, Nintendo always releases the characters after the tournaments are over, for free, to players who chose not to participate.
