After a nail-biting five-game series in the Lower Bracket Finals, T1 has officially locked in their spot in the 2025 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational Grand Finals, also known as MSI to most gamers. This grand final is setting up a long-awaited rematch for T1 with Gen.G.
The clash between T1 and Anyone’s Legend (AL) was a high-stakes battle filled with tense skirmishes, dramatic turnarounds, and high-level gameplay. With a spot in the Grand Finals on the line, both teams left everything on the Rift, but it was T1 who emerged victorious in a decisive 3-2 series. Here is how it all went down, with some of the best plays in each match.
Match Recap: T1 vs. Anyone’s Legend (Lower Bracket Finals)
Game 1: AL took the early series lead after a Baron fight allowed them to swing momentum and eventually destroy T1’s Nexus in 27 minutes.
Game 2: T1 bounced back aggressively, dominating early fights and closing the game out in 29 minutes with a massive 13,000 gold lead.
Game 3: AL struck back, controlling the map and pacing to a comfortable 31-minute victory to reach matchpoint.
Game 4: T1 stayed resilient, turning the game after securing Dragon Soul and wiping AL to even the series after 26 minutes of play.
Game 5: In the decider, T1 delivered a near-flawless performance, winning team fights consistently and closing out the game in 28 minutes with a 24-4 kill score and 11,000 gold lead.
T1’s journey through the tournament has been turbulent but impressive. After surviving CTBC Flying Oyster in a 3-2 thriller and sweeping Bilibili Gaming 3-0, they fell to Gen.G in a hard-fought 3-2 series in the upper bracket. Now, with their revenge match set, T1 will get another shot at taking down Gen.G for the championship.
Anyone’s Legend also had a strong tournament run, defeating FlyQuest, CTBC Flying Oyster, and BLG to reach the Lower Bracket Finals. Despite their loss to T1, they finish the tournament in third place and take home $240,000.
The Grand Finals of MSI 2025 will now see two LCK giants, T1 and Gen.G, face off once more. With Gen.G having won their previous encounter in the upper bracket, all eyes will be on whether T1 can adapt and claim revenge when it matters most.
One of the best things about the Fearless Draft mode with this MSI tournament is that it has taken the compeition to a whole different level. However it also leaves a lot of room for people to ask, what are these team drafts we see some games? For example why are teams still picking Kalista with a literal 0 percent winrate across 10 games in MSI? Why are we picking Ziggs and little to no range into a traditional comp? Some of the matches the teams just seem to lose purely due to draft difference despite the large roster of champs to play.
